El Nopal Restaurant in Sumas

Amazing family restaurant. You can pay in CAD or USD which is convenient. Service is very fast.

The staff is great, there is plenty of parking there and nearby and it's a nice to have but the food quality, variety and selection does not match the price. It's good but not great, and definitely not at par with what you are being charged. I think because it's the only Mexican restaurant nearby they got carried away with the presentation and forgot about putting the same effort in the food.

We arrived@ 5pm and were immediately seated. Water, drinks, chips and salsa arrived in good time. We're vegan so we ordered the veggie burrito express. Everything tasted great. The place is reasonably clean and we'll lit. Service was excellent 👍! Very popular with families. While we were there the whole place filled up and two couples were waiting for a table. Three people for dinner with sodas = $42.

Great food, service, and price

Really good Mexican food and portions. They have truly authentic Mexican cuisine, but there bar is very sub par. Bad and overpriced drinks.

They recently improved their salsa and chips which was a good step. The vegetarian options are limited and the sides have always been bland. Not the authentic flavours I've had further south. I'm always suspect of "seafood" labels on the menu...as well as being mysterious, they are very pricey. Overall an "okay" dining experience, pleasant staff, crazy decor, harsh lighting in places and no ambient music.

I don't live in the area but this is a must stop restaurant every time I'm here. Food is delicious traditional Mexican food at great prices! Three service is fantastic and drinks are well made.

The kids loved it! Generous portions for kids meals, so I got one, too! My brother in law has been raving about this place for years, and I finally made it up from California to try it out. We were not disappointed!

This last visit was wonderful - it's back to it's "amazing" status, with fast friendly service.

Went for lunch and again awesome service. Great prices and fantastic food. One order of Prawns fajitas more than enough for two. Recommend El Nopal to anyone looking for value and service.

Took my lovely Seniorita here on date night and it was a very pleasant experience. Good service in a restaurant for a change (guess I had to leave Canada to get it) and good food! I thought it was good value for what we received, and we'll be going back again!

Amazing Mexican food! Better than when I stayed in Mexico. Granted I stayed at a resort, but absolutely delicious. Courteous staff, accepts the Canadian dollar at par on occasion. Wonderful!

I was originally going to give this place 4 stars, but after thinking about it for a few minutes I realized I couldn't come up with much to be critical about. I've been twice now and both times the service was either fair or good, food quality was on point ( I don't eat a lot of meat, so I was happy to see that my taco looked like it was made with actual chicken breast instead of processed garbage) and the price was fair. The atmosphere is good and fun, I can't wait to go back and try karaoke night some time (which I've heard is worth checking out). Margaritas were delicious, as was the mole sauce. Not much else going on in the neighborhood, but it would be easy to make a night of El Nopal. If you're Canadian, consider walking or riding a bike across to avoid the border wait, it's so much easier and it's a five minute walk from the Sumas/Huntingdon crossing.

This place was great the service was authentic just like the food. Fajitas come out sizzling hot. Friendly to families and large parties don't forget to tip your server!

Its official. Their Beef Fajitas are better than El Ranchito and Mi Mexico. They put mushrooms in theirs. However, if they had tomatoes it would 100 percent perfection.

I live in Sumas, WA. El Nopal has great food, great customer service and a very very friendly staff. Prices are not outrageous given the location. Food tastes great every time. If they make a mistake...they fix it for you until its perfect. I go here twice a week.

Always great food and service! It might sound silly, but the chips and salsa are so good. The portions are generous, drinks are tasty, and there are many options to choose from. The waitstaff are friendly. It is very comfortable, with plenty of room and the decor is fun and vibrant. We really enjoy eating here.

Typical American Mexican food. Good sized portions. Decent service. Price seems a bit high, but if you pay cash they honour CAD at par. Very fast food to table, less than 5 minutes.So, definitely will return. With cash!

El Nopal never fails to deliver. We've been going there for about 20 years and the food, drinks and service has been consistently excellent. Their new space is very well decorated and looks great. It is well worth the trip from Canada! They accept cash and credit only, remember. Try the #25 chicken!

My husband and I, and our cousins have been coming here for years. Have never had bad food. Staff know regulars orders, and are friendly but not in your face. Always start with free chips, 2 meals and 2 drinks for less then $25...I think that's a pretty good deal.

It's hard to beat the taste vs Value of this place when you're crossing the border. Everything here is reasonably priced and the service is great. Worth a stop on your way south or even to cross just for it.

We love this place. Didn't have 2 margaritas as did gentleman in next booth. But we ate very heartily. I had salad, husband chimichanga and son a huge mole meal. All very good, as usual.

Great service. Excellent food. The bar expertly packed food for us to take on the go. Had no issues eating in the car. We will be back. Only set back was that nopales were not on the menu.

Excellent Mexican restaurant, they often do Canadian cash at par and the service is always great. We’ve always been happy with our food and drinks here and it is right across the border and very easy to find.

The wonderful atmosphere of the restaurant makes you feel like you are in Mexico enjoying home made salsa and chips while you wait for your food. The food itself is very tasty, and well presented, the options are many and all of them are good, from burritos to chicken soup, you will feel full and satisfied after finishing as much as you can. The staff and other patrons are all very friendly and the decor is something you'll love every time. Every meal I've ever had here has been wonderful, and I long for it regularly, thank you to the owners and staff for making this such a hot hit for our family!

Love the food and the price not to mention CANADIAN AT PAR!!!
